The Wombat in our Church
The wombat in our church
digs holes
as wombats do,
wombatly tunnelling
the dark places.
Our wombat has a hard head
suited to its business.
The wombat knows its way
and goes one way
by night and day,
no matter what is said.
Some call this
commitment.
Intense in its unique identity,
God's wombat
pursues high destiny.
Like most wombats,
it carries mange
which spreads easily.
It throws lots of dirt.
The wombat in our church
likes to dig
right near the foundations,
which isn't very bright.
Its mansion grows softly
until the day the ground
falls through
and people
upturned as beetles
wonder
how a cute furry friend
could inter
a whole community.
