Shalom
Shalom, shalom
Deep peace of the living God be yours
Deep peace of the risen Son be yours
Unending peace of eternal God be yours.
Peace in your home, with kin and with neighbour,
Peace in your travels, in rest and in labour,
Peace with your workmate, opponent and stranger,
Peace rule your heart in calm and in danger.
Shalom, shalom.
God breathe his peace on your thoughts and your fears,
Peace of eternity, moments and years,
Deep peace guard you from waywardly turning,
Love's peace guide you by light everburning.
Shalom, shalom.
Honest and upright in words and in ways,
You and your people, all of your days,
Friendship in truth with God and with man:
Shalom! So your house and your nation shall stand.
Peace with your God and spirit's yearning,
Deep peace keep you till His returning.
Shalom, shalom
Deep peace of the living God be yours
Deep peace of the risen Son be yours
Unending peace of eternal God be yours.
About these words
When our children were small to middling, I wrote some verses to explain Biblical word and concepts for them, like 'peace', 'the kingdom of God', 'soul'.
Shalom popped out fully formed in a matter of minutes, the only time I have ever experienced this. I saw that as something amazing which the Spirit of Jesus did.
Much later, we became especially interested in blessings through interaction with the people at the Ffald-y-Brenin prayer house in Wales. They are re-discovering the wonder and power of blessing in the name (with the authority) of Jesus the Messiah.
Like many others around the globe, we have made our home a house of prayer, where we pray for and speak blessings over our local area and community.
