on mornings

on mornings you can
touch the light,
magpie song caresses
the life-laden air

daybreak brushes against
the valleyed treetops,
and sunshadowed hills
enfold all

the magpie glides slow,
savouring
liquid sky

and the eternity of it
is too deep
to breathe
